Once again I've tallied up the requests in my in-box and the most frequent ones were for styles of the SuperStars. You wanted styles of hitmakers like ABBA, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, The Kinks, Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston and more. Well, you asked for them ... you've got them!

The styles on this disk have all been on the Billboard Top 40 by superstars who have had strings of hits on the Billboard charts. These artists and the hit songs that used these styles could be included in the definition of popular music. You can use these versatile super-styles to cover the hits of the stars, to play other songs in the same genre, or for your potential hit recording.

The best way to describe what is on this disk is to list the styles and post the demo songs. So here we go:
Note: The audio MP3 files were recorded using Band-in-a-Box and the Edirol VSC3 Virtual Sound Canvas synthesizer. They were encoded at a low bit-rate and in mono so they will download fast, even for those with a dial-up connection. The low bit-rate results in low fidelity, but you will still be able to hear all the parts, and you won't have to wait long for the music to start. In most cases the demo plays only a few bars of the A section, a few bars of the B section, and the ending. In other words, what you hear is only a fraction of what you get.

ABBA (Classic Disco) (#ABBA__1.sty): ABBA had 14 Top40 hits and are the subject of a current smash musical play. Here is a typical ABBA style - 1970s Disco at its peak of popularity with Synth Bass, Bright Piano, Clean Guitar, Strings and "Room" Drums -- so get out the Danskins and Double-Knits and boogie!

Aretha Franklin 1 (#Aretha1.sty): Aretha Franklin, the undisputed Queen of Soul has 45 Top40 hits (so far) and many more on the R&B and Gospel charts -- for that she needs a lot of respect! This Aretha style has Piano, Organ, Guitar, Bass & Drums and is reminiscent of the Stax Memphis session players.

Beach Boys 1 (#BchBoy1.sty): Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys scored 28 Top40 hits and they still perform to SRO concerts. Here is a basic "surf rock" style with 2 guitars, voice pad, bass and drums. Since so much modern Nashville music is rock based, this one will even work for C&W songs

Beatles 1 (#Beatle1.sty): The Beatles defined a generation and had 52 Top40 hits -- if any 20th century band name is still recognized by people all over the world, it's The Beatles. Here is the first of a series of Beatles styles (more to come on future disks) with 3 guitars, bass and drums

Bee Gees 1 (#BeeGee1.sty): The Brothers Gibb had 30 Top40 hits spanning 30 years and put the fever in Saturday Nights. This classic Bee Gee style features 2 guitars, piano, synth bass and drums

Charlie Rich 1 (#C_Rich1.sty): Although primarily thought of as a Country superstar, Charlie had 8 Top40 hits in addition to his C&W giants. This easy shuffle with 2 guitars, piano, bass and brushed drums is equally at home in the country and pop/rock camps

Eric Clapton (#Clapton.sty): Eric has had 18 Top40 hits under his own name PLUS even more Top40 hits with the Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, Plastic Ono Band, Delaney and Bonnie and others. If anybody deserves to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, "Slowhand" does. This 3 guitar, bass and drum style is classic rock at its finest
