Classic Ballads

This disk is a logical progression from the first three, based on jazz standards. While standards form the bulk of the songs here, there are also classic songs from the '60s and '70s. The focus throughout is to provide an appropriate variety of settings (styles) for timeless melodies, along with satisfying arrangements of each song.

The range of material is reflected in the 15 new styles. So we have '50s style string arrangements of wonderful ballads, a variety of jazz combo styles, new bossa and jazz waltz styles together with styles typical of George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Ramsey Lewis and "Abbey Road" vintage Beatles. The ambience of the disk is punctuated with occasional medium and up-tempo songs in appropriate styles.

These imaginative and varied "arrangements" - as Roy prefers to call them - will form the basis of many hours of pleasure for Band-in-A-Box users.

The enduring appeal of jazz standards - with emphasis on ballads - is proved by continued sales of the back catalogue as well as the most recent recordings by the likes of Diana Krall, Joni Mitchell, George Michael and Bryan Ferry!

~swing_b.sty Light jazz combo style for medium and quicker tempos, two-to-the-bar feel on "a" with a bouncy "b" section; piano, string bass, vibes and brushes, with heavy off-beat guitar on "b"
